DEBCON 4
The two editions of DebCon 4 the annual intra- school debate competition, held on 6th and 7th May, 2026 proved to be a phenomenal success featuring over two hundred avid participants from Grades 6-12 who spoke with profound energy and enthusiasm. The event aimed to nurture critical thinking, improve public speaking skills, and encourage the art of effective argumentation among the students. As the eager debaters settled in their venues, the
Mini-auditorium and Deodar Hall were abuzz with a sense of pure enthusiasm and curiosity. The middle school participants were expected to Debate in the Oxford debating format, each delivering a two-minute speech followed by a one-minute question round from the jury panel. WSDC debating was the chosen style of debating for the senior orators, following a 3 vs 3 proposition -opposition format. All debaters who presented their stances left behind an echo of enthusiasm, confidence, and wisps of determination. The motions which were open for debating covered a wide and diverse range of thought-provoking topics such as- gendered media awards, commercialization of sports, fandom culture, personal identity vis a vis economic success, feminist movement and state atheism. The budding orators debated on the clash points of the motions in a highly intuitive and nuanced style, leaving the judges captivated by the clarity of their vision and the precision of their arguments. Ultimately, DebCon 2026 was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of intellectual curiosity and the power of the spoken word. Following were the winners in the designated categories:
