WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
“World Mental Health Day” is celebrated worldwide on 10th October every year to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. This year, the theme was "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace". The purpose of the day was to emphasise the importance of mental health across all ages - infants, children, and adolescents and advocating promotion and prevention of mental health issues.
To bring awareness and advocate the importance of Mental Health, D.P.S Vasant Kunj organized different activities at various levels like physical activities for Nursery and Prep, Shinrin-Yoku, a Japanese practice of connecting with nature through the senses, for classes I and II and poster making for classes III and IV on the topic, ‘Less Screen, More Green’. Class V performed a skit on the topic- ‘Break Free from Screen, Embrace the Green’ while classes VI- XII did poster making activity on various topics like, ‘Less Screen, More Green’, ‘Ways to Conflict Resolution’, ‘Gender Sensitization- Overcoming Prejudice/Stereotyping’, ‘Say No to Bullying/ Substance Abuse’, ‘Time Management / Stress Management’, respectively. Special assemblies were held in both Junior and Senior schools, where strategies for building positive mental health were shared with students.
