THE DPS NATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT GIRLS (OPEN)-2025
The National DPS Basketball Tournament Girls Open-2025 was successfully conducted under the aegis of The Delhi Public School Society from 16th to 18th January 2026 at DPS Vasant Kunj. The three-day tournament brought together 12 teams from DPS schools across the country, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship.
Inaugural Ceremony – 16th January 2026
The tournament commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony graced by distinguished dignitaries. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Ravi Vira Gupta, Vice-Chairman, The DPS Society and Chairman, MC, DPS Vasant Kunj. The event was further honoured by the presence of Shri Dalip Kumar, Indian Basketball Veteran as Guest of Honour and Ms. Sahira Balyan, a distinguished alumna of DPS Vasant Kunj, as Special Guest.
The ceremony included the traditional lighting of the lamp, hoisting of the DPS Society’s flag, and an impressive march past by all 12 participating teams.
The Principal of DPS Vasant Kunj, Ms. Deepti Vohra delivered the welcome address, followed by a soulful choir performance. Shri Ravi Vira Gupta addressed the gathering, emphasizing the values of perseverance, teamwork, and sporting spirit. The players then took a solemn oath to uphold fair play and sportsmanship.
Shri Dalip Kumar and Ms. Sahira Balyan shared inspiring words that motivated the young athletes. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem and a group photograph of all teams.
League Matches – 16th and 17th January 2026
Following the inaugural ceremony, intense league matches were played on 16th and 17th January among the 12 participating teams as per the fixtures. The matches showcased exceptional skills, strategic gameplay, and fierce competition, with each team displaying remarkable determination and sportsmanship on the court.
Valedictory Ceremony – 18th January 2026
The closing ceremony was graced by Smt. Dolly Chanana, Joint Director, The Delhi Public School Society, who served as the Chief Guest. Ms. Varuni Beotra, a distinguished alumna from the Class of 2016 and an accomplished basketball player who represented the school and state at national and zonal levels, attended as Special Guest.
The ceremony featured a choir performance and an audio-visual presentation showcasing tournament highlights. Smt. Dolly Chanana delivered an inspiring address, commending the players for their dedication and sporting spirit.

The trophies were presented by the Chief Guest and the Principal. DPS Noida was applauded for their exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

The event reinforced the values of discipline, unity, and perseverance that will guide these young champions in their future endeavours.
