JIGYASA - 2025

Science and Mathematics Exhibition

“A drop saved is hope planted, a dream saved.”

This sagacious titular description of a drip irrigation unit, made by a Class III student captured the essence of Jigyasa – a two day Science and Mathematics exhibition organized by Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj on 14th and 15th November 2025.

Over 400 students of classes III, IV, V and VI participated in this creative gala by showcasing over 200 self – designed models and apparatus; from futuristic robots to sustainable cities to units making seed based paper. The young learners enthralled the visitors with their narratives detailing the scientific principles that governed their exhibits. The atmosphere was abuzz with a plethora of exploratory experiences encouraging scientific and technological creativity among students and their parents alike.

The event celebrated the prowess of mathematical genius and ability by way of photo booths, flash cards, mathematical models and quirky mathematical quotes that compelled attention. The highlight being the Mathematical and Funfinity Arcade boasting of stalls exhibiting a hands-on and experiential approach to learning mathematics, the fun way. In character with the event’s theme, the students also presented a cultural extravaganza. This cultural show, in addition to celebrating India’s impressive scientific heritage and temper, traced the journey of light across centuries thorough a skit, attacked the demon of “Pollution” and highlighted the urgent need for sustainable fashion.

Jigyasa was graced by the presence of eminent guests who mirror a keen scientific and technological acumen in their pursuits; Shri Ravi Vira Gupta, Chairman, Managing Committee DPS Vasant Kunj, Shri Kaushik Dutta, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee DPS Vasant Kunj, Professor Prateak Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technological University and Professor Sukanya Das, Dean (Research and Partnerships), Department of Policy and Management Studies, TERI. The palpable enthusiasm of an unprecedented number of parents, of students of classes III to IX , further inspired the budding innovators. 210 students from various Delhi Public Schools, accompanied by their teachers, visited the exhibition facilitating an exchange of scientific and mathematical ideas. Each one of the dignitaries, as well as the guests, lauded the schools’ focus on STEM based learning.

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj truly honoured Nehru’s legacy of nurturing India’s youngest citizens. The school’s initiative saw young scientific minds and mathematical genius work symbiotically to address global issues that are fundamentally technical-climate change, energy resources, food production and genetic modification. Jigyasa, thus held testimony to the fact that scientific acumen cradles infinite hope and when this temper is fostered amongst young inquisitive minds, they stand empowered to give wings to their dreams of a healthier planet.
