Inter-DPS Essay Writing Competition 2025-26
The DPS Society successfully conducted the inaugural Inter-DPS Essay Writing Competition 2025-26, a landmark initiative designed to nurture young literary talent across its network of schools. This annual intellectual endeavour has been envisioned as a distinguished forum that affirms the commitment to nurturing young voices that express themselves through words.
The competition was conducted in two comprehensive stages across 13 core DPS Schools:
Stage I: School-Level Round
Date: 4th November 2025
Venue: All 13 core DPS Schools
Evaluation: Conducted by respective language teachers at each school
Selection: Two finalists from each category per school
Stage II: Final Round
Date: 29th November 2025
Venue: DPS Vasant Kunj, New Delhi
Participants: 176 finalists
Format: Essays written on topics announced 15 minutes prior to the competition
Evaluation: Distinguished panel of eminent academics
COMPETITION CATEGORIES
English Language Categories:
1. Apprentice Scholars (Classes V–VI): Word limit 150–250 words
2. Junior Scholars (Classes VII–VIII): Word limit 250–400 words
3. Intermediate Scholars (Classes IX–X): Word limit 650–850 words
4. Senior Scholars (Classes XI–XII): Word limit 1200–1400 words
Hindi Language Categories:
1. Apprentice Scholars (Classes V–VI): Word limit 150–250 words
2. Junior Scholars (Classes VII–VIII): Word limit 250–400 words
3. Intermediate Scholars (Classes IX–X): Word limit 650–850 words
AWARD CEREMONY
The competition culminated in a grand award ceremony hosted at DPS Vasant Kunj on 10th December 2025, graced by Shri V.K Shunglu, Vice-Chairman, The DPS Society and the other distinguished members of the DPS Society.
The proceedings commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Deepti Vohra, Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj. The cultural segment of the programme featured a captivating dance performance of Ganesh Pushpanjali, which set an auspicious tone for the occasion.
Ms. Nita Kumar, Joint Director, HRDC, The DPS Society, provided a brief overview of the entire event, encapsulating the highlights of this first-ever iteration of the competition.
This was followed by an engaging audio-visual presentation that showcased glimpses and highlights of the competition, providing an overview of the journey from the school-level rounds to the grand finale. The literary essence of the event was brought to life through the reading of excerpts from the winning essays in English by participants across all four categories, demonstrating the remarkable talent and creativity of young writers. Shri V. K. Shunglu, Vice-Chairman, The DPS Society, then addressed the gathering, sharing his insights and appreciation for the students’ efforts. He further emphasized the importance of language, literature, and creative expression in education. Subsequently, participants presented excerpts from the winning essays in Hindi across all three categories, further enriching the programme with diverse linguistic expression.
The highlight of the evening was the Award Ceremony, where winners were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. To celebrate excellence in thought and expression, the following awards were conferred in each category: The Golden Pen (First Prize/Winner) for unmatched brilliance of thought and expression, The Silver Pen (Second Prize) for exceptional clarity, depth and elegance, The Bronze Pen (Third Prize) for originality, sound reasoning and admirable style, and The Honoured Quill (three in number) to recognise freshness of voice and effort.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
The Inter-DPS Essay Writing Competition 2025-26 successfully provided a prestigious platform for young scholars to showcase their literary prowess and creative expression. The overwhelming participation and high quality of submissions reflect the strong foundation of language education across DPS schools. This initiative reinforces the DPS Society’s commitment to holistic education and the development of communication skills among students.
