MATHS WEEK
CLASSES - VI to VIII
The Mathematics department of DPS Vasant Kunj organised Maths Week from 16th May to 18th May , 2023 to prepare young minds for a journey to the world of mathematics. With best wishes from our esteemed principal Ms Deepti Vohra and our Vice Principal Ms Archana Malik and Headmistress Ms Malini Sen Gupta and Ms Mamta Narula, Maths Week commenced with the lighting of lamp. Intra section activities were conducted in classes VI to VIII to ensure mass participation. Students from all classes actively participated and had shown great enthusiasm.
Class VI
Day-1 : Role-Play competition gave a chance to students to showcase their talent where they presented themselves in famous mathematician’s getup like Ramanujan, Aryabhatta, Shakuntala Devi..etc. The event amplified their confidence to a great extent.
Day-2: Cool Calculations activity was a combination of Mathematical calculations and colouring the sheet,according to the obtained answer. The activity enhanced their calculation speed and interest.
Day-3 : Design a Durrie competiton based on shapes helped the students to tap their creativity by using the paper cutouts of geometrical shapes to make a pattern that was presented in the form of a Durrie, integrating maths with art.
Class VII
Day -1: Mystery Message competition was full of challenges in solving problems based on integers.
Day-2: Birthday Magic Square activity inspired students to design their magic birthday square puzzle & through this activity, they came to know about the life of famous mathematician Srinivasan Ramanujan.
Day -3: Math- A- Magic competition helped students to use their creativity & knowledge to design a pamphlet.
Class VIII
Day -1: Fun with Integers competition challenged students to create a mathematical term having maximum value based on integers.
Day -2: Crack the Quote competition helped students to relate Mathematical concepts of Squares and Cubes with real life situations.
Day -3: Fraction Art activity facilitated students to exhibit their creativity & ideas to form unique art pieces using fractional pieces.
Overall, it was a great learning experience for all the students. Taking the celebration as an opportunity, students showcased their knowledge of mathematical concepts, their thinking & analytical skills to do the activities to the best of their ability.

MATHEMAGINATION – MATHS WEEK - 2023 (JR. SCHOOL)
Maths week in the ongoing session, 2023-24 commenced on 16th May and lasted for three days till 18th May .Children of class 3, 4 and 5 participated whole heartedly in various Maths based fun activities and indoor games. Class 3 thoroughly enjoyed themselves drawing different fruits from numbers in ‘Fruity Number Salad’ and applied the mathematical operations of addition, subtraction and multiplication learnt so far in the game of ‘Tambola’. Class 4 tried their hands on making the given shape using tangrams in ‘Tangy Tangrams’ on day 1 and had fun dressing up as and speaking about their favourite mathematician in ‘Know your mathematician’ on day 2. Class 5 enjoyed playing the game ‘Number Scrabble’ on the first day and equally enjoyed displaying their creative streak in the intra class competition ‘Delicious Shapes’ on the second day. The Maths week culminated in a movie extravaganza for the kids in the Multi Purpose Hall which was thoroughly enjoyed by children and teachers alike.
