A PIOUS OFFERING TO THE SENTINELS ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION-2025
When the entire country sleeps peacefully at night, the soldiers pray for their hearts to beat the next day-to protect their motherland; they stand at the pinnacle where courage meets sacrifice.
The Annual Day celebration of Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj, ‘UTSARG-SHAURYA KI GAURAV GATHA’, held on 8 August 2025 was a reverential homage to the courage of the Indian Army personnel. The school orchestrated an enthralling ceremony that was redolent with patriotic spirit and accounts of the unwavering bravery of the men and women in uniform.
The event was graced by the edifying presence of the Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman, The Delhi Public School Society; Padma Bhushan Shri V.K. Shunglu, Vice-Chairman, The Delhi Public School Society; Shri Ravi Vira Gupta, Chairman, Managing Committee, DPS Vasant Kunj and Major General Zubin Bhatnagar, Vishisht Seva Medal, ADG Recruiting, Indian Army.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the auspicious lamp, which symbolized the victory of knowledge over ignorance. The august gathering was welcomed with a stirring confluence by the school band and troupe, who captivated the audience with their rendition of "Jayatu Janani"-an ode to the motherland. Through heartfelt cadence and mesmerising moves they celebrated our nation's rich heritage and grandeur, leaving a lasting impression on all.
The Principal, Mrs. Deepti Vohra, accorded a warm welcome to the esteemed guests. In her annual report, she expressed her pride in the students' talents and multifarious achievements, and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing compassionate and courageous citizens.
The Chief Guest for the evening, Shri B. K. Chaturvedi, Chairman of The DPS Society delivered an inspiring address, commending the school’s commitment to excellence and its earnest role in shaping responsible citizens of the world.
The marquee moment of the evening was the rivetting dance drama ‘UTSARG – Shaurya ki Gaurav Gatha’ which was a heartfelt tribute to the peerless valour of the Indian Armed Forces, their selfless sacrifices, and the silent yet firm support of their families. It was a bilingual, in-house school production, featuring the enthusiastic participation of over 150 students from various classes. The sacrifices of these ketsian ‘ mighty dead ‘ were portrayed as legacies — echoes of dignity, honor, and eternal respect. Through every gesture and rhythm, the performance reiterated that bravery is India's shared heartbeat, and that true nationalism is indelibly embossed in the soul of its denizens.
The spell-binding ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, proposed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Archana Malik, expressing sincere appreciation to the entire school fraternity for contributing to the success of the event, followed by the entire congregation singing the national anthem in unison.
