  The DPS Society’s University Event

Bridging Perspectives: A DPS Society, College Access Program initiative : University Event (24th January 2024)

Venue: MP Hall, DPS Vasant Kunj

Resource Persons: Ms. Dolly Chanana, Joint Director DPSS, Ms. Ambikaa Kaul, (College Access Program DPSS), Mrs. Soma Dam (Dean of Academics & Innovation - Suncity School), and Mrs. Tanushree Bhattacharya (India Representative for the University of British Columbia, Canada) as panelists, along with Ms. Amrita Ghulati (Ex. Counselor, The Shriram School, and now Acumen)

A University Event (Panel Discussion), scheduled on 24 January 2024 at DPS Vasant Kunj aimed to connect 28+ in-country representatives of International Universities with the College Access Program and the DPS Society. The goal was to efficiently introduce the DPS Society to a diverse group of international universities from the UK, Canada, and Australia, identify collaboration opportunities, and initiate discussions for exclusive scholarships for the DPS Society students.

The event was also graced by Mrs. Deepti Vohra (Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj) and Mrs. Archana Malik (Vice Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj).

Mrs. Dolly Chanana, Jt. Director, The DPSS shared the vision of the DPS Society’s Chairman Mr. B.K. Chaturvedi and Vice Chairman Mr. V.K. Shunglu, in bringing national level extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to the network of 230+ schools. She also introduced the objectives of the College Access Program:

1) Equipping students with essential and unbiased, knowledge,

2) Broadening the university options available to students,

3) Clarifying admissions processes, requirements & timelines.

4) Providing guidance on financial planning & scholarships.

Next, Ms. Ambikaa Kaul, Counselor and Knowledge Partner for the College Access Program to shared her insights and perspectives on the advantages of working directly with the DPS schools, and collaborating with the College Access Program to bring increased benefits to the students of DPS across the globe. Looking ahead, Ms. Kaul outlined the ambitious plan for 2024, with the aim of conducting in-depth information sessions, offering DPS Society specific scholarships as well as introducing Masterclasses with professors and experts to inspire and upskill our students, parent-body and in-school counselors.

This was followed by a panel discussion. The panel discussion focused on the day-to-day situations faced by school counselors and how university representatives can better work with CAP and DPS  to increase engagement and applications from the right “fit” of students.

The key takeaways from the panel discussion centered around impactful school engagement, strategies for student career choices, and the importance of fostering a multi-stakeholder approach in education.

The success of the event was amplified by the presence of 28 In-Country representatives from 22 universities across the globe. Their active participation and engagement added a diverse and enriching dimension to the event, showcasing a collective commitment to fostering global education opportunities.
