‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav '
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements. In accordance with this sentiment, DPS Vasant Kunj celebrated this solemn occasion with all the students and staff members.
The school organised a plethora of literary and creative activities to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the Indian Independence.
Patriotic Week
A Patriotic Week was conducted in from 8th August,2022 to 12th August,2022 for the students of classes Nursery to II. A number of activities were planned for the children in which they participated with great joy.
The Tricolour activity was done in different forms - Paper Tearing and Pasting; Headgear, Kite and Pinwheel Making. Children of Class Nursery enjoyed the discussion on National Symbols and sang “Nanha Munna Sainik Hoon” in the special assembly. For the other Classes, Fancy Dress was organised on the topics- Freedom Fighters and Leaders of India,Famous Sports Personality of our country and Brides and Grooms of different states,along with Poetry Recitation.
To celebrate the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a special assembly was also organized on 13th August, 2022.The assembly began with a musical rendition by the school choir that awakened everyone’s feelings for the motherland. Children were dressed up as freedom fighters of our country and gave a heart-touching presentation. It was followed by a short skit which laid emphasis on the motto of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A spectacular dance performance by our troupe of dancers won the hearts of everyone and kindled the patriotic fervour in all.
Special activities were also organized for the students of classes Nursery to V in which they participated with great enthusiasm. Children sang patriotic songs, participated in various drawing and colouring activities, created beautiful cards, bookmarks, posters and badges. Armed with exuberance and confidence, children participated with full devotion in all the events, evoking feelings of admiration and respect for our country.
Class VI –
The thematic class activities included drawing and painting of the Indian flag titled ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’. The children showcased incredible art and craft skills in drawing the Indian flag using newspaper cuttings, paper quilling and block painting etc.
Class VII –
A ‘Poster Making Activity’ was organised for students of Class VII. The children exhibited their feelings of patriotism on papers using paint and colours. They won the hearts of the teachers and staff with their artistic expression and creativity.
Class VIII –
To inculcate the spirit of nationalism in the students of class VIII, a Slogan Writing Competition on the topic- ‘India of my Dreams’ was organised. The students wrote patriotic and thought- provoking slogans. It was a fun-filled yet creatively inspiring activity enjoyed by the young learners.
Class IX -
Class IX students recited patriotic poems and conducted a Quiz on Freedom Struggle of India. They also gave presentation on leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Batukeshwar Dutt and many others.
The response of students were overwhelming and full of national pride. They also took a pledge to develop and instill feeling of patriotism and work sincerely to become responsible citizens.
Class X – The students of Class X enthusiastically participated in an Extempore Activity. They were asked to speak for around one to two minutes, on any one of the following topics :
Tricolour Triumphs
The ethos of patriotism
Once a soldier always a soldier
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Violence vs Non violence
Mutiny is an outbreak of suppressed agony
The views and thoughts of the students, showcased so creatively, added to the spirit of patriotism. It was quite a spectacle to witness the teachers and audience enjoying the event thoroughly and generously appreciating a few of the heart-rending speeches.
Class XI – XII -
The members of Grey Matters, the quizzing club of DPS Vasant Kunj organised a special quiz for students of Classes XI and XII. The quiz was based on topics related to Indian Independence, history and culture. The quiz was aimed at inculcating a spirit of patriotism and nationalism. The students participated in the jubilation with great fervour and pride.
