National Young Authors' Fair 2023
Students from our school participated in the National Young Authors' Fair 2023, powered by BriBooks and Education Today. The National Young Authors' Fair is the World’s Largest Literary Event where children Write, Publish and Promote books in their journey to become globally published authors, with an ISBN number issued by the Ministry of Education. The following students from our school have brought us accolades:

Shriya Sreekrishna of Class XI has won the bronze award in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, conducted by the prestigious Royal Commonwealth Society. She won this award in the Senior Category among 34,924 entrants from all over the world. This year’s theme was ‘A Youth – Powered Commonwealth’ and Shriya wrote on the topic ‘Script a dialogue between two people, with contrasting viewpoints, on an issue that divides generations. This is the 4th time Shriya wins this award. She has previously won this award in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 – bronze in ’18 and ’19 and silver in 2020. Shriya has a flair for writing and has her own blog which she updates with her short stories and thoughts periodically. Shriya is also a trained Carnatic Vocalist and has performed at several stages across Delhi. This year, she performed at 2 venues during the Sharad Navratri Season – at Vikaspuri and R.K.Puram. Shriya also successfully completed the University of Toronto’s Math Circles Program during the summer of 2023 on applied mathematics, including linear programming, basic probability and difference equations in population biology. She also volunteered at Anandam, a senior citizens home, during the summer of 2023, where she helped raise funds for their new wing of Palliative Care for the elderly.
BUDDING SPACE SCIENTIST
Kautilya Veer of class XII has published a research paper titled "A thermal insulation and UV resistant system based on aerogel for settlements on Moon and Mars", in the International Journal for Research in Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology Volume 11 Issue 7. His abstract titled "Life and Physical Sciences under reduced gravity, a detailed review" has also been selected to be presented at the International Astronautical Congress, 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Kautilya's interview was featured in "Young Achievers" section of The Hindu last year and he was invited to speak at TEDx Cambridge School about his journey in the field of space science. Kautilya is the leader of Team Xpanse and has recently won the prestigious Gerard O'Neill Space Settlement Design Challenge with his team of four. He has recently also been awarded a full-ride scholarship of $5800 to The Knowledge Society for his Cube-Satellite project.
INDIAN ORGAN DONATION DAY 2023
DPS Vasant Kunj participated keenly in the various events organised by Organ Retrieval Banking Organization, AIIMS, New Delhi to mark this significant day. The competitive events, centering around organ donation were held on 1st August, 2023 to spread awareness about the noble and altruistic practice. Saimaa Malla, Class 10 won the First Position and Reet Sethi, also of Class 10 won the Second Position in Story Writing. Mannat Budhiraja, Class 9, bagged the Second Position while Paavni Trivedi, Class 10 bagged the Third Position in Extempore. Ridhima Uttam, Class 12, secured the Second Position in Pebble Painting. They were awarded with trophies and certificates each, for their meritorious performance in a noteworthy ceremony presided over by Dr M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, New Delhi.
Furthermore, Geeta Mehta, PGT Hindi, Maitreyi Mukherjee, PGT English and Rachna Kapur, PRT Art were also felicitated with mementos for co-adjudging the above competition
BRILLIANT MOVES
Shreyan Deo has met the highest academic standards while excelling in extracurricular activities. He is a FIDE (Federation Internationale D’Echecs) rated Chess player with a rating of 1297 (Rapid) and 1230 (Classical) and a 2301 Peak Rapid Rating on Lichess. He has been under the mentorship of Grandmaster Sriram Jha for over two years. He has participated in various national and international chess events, even winning the title of ‘Best Unrated’ player and receiving Rs.3000 at the 1st Chandrashekhar Azad Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament, an International Chess Competition held in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. He founded the Chess Club in Class 10 and has nurtured over 200 students with his online classes that he took during COVID, tournaments and intraschool events. He is also a painter and designer, receiving several accolades and winning 2nd prize at a zonal painting competition. He received an appreciation letter from the Special Police Unit For Women & Children (SPUWAC) for designing a medal for them.
He scored an impressive 99.4% in class 10 boards. An MVPP Scholar and a school gold medallist, Shreyan has won various interschool mathematics and science competitions. He also received the prestigious Merit Certificate in IOQM twice, in the years 2021 and 2022, along with a certificate of Distinction in the Hypatia Contest held by the University of Waterloo and the AMC 12, 2022 exam. He has also cleared DELF A1, A2 and B1 exams, which are French Language Diplomas. He was selected for the Young Technology Scholars (YTS) Summer Program held at Plaksha University, Mohali, from June 11 to June 25, 2023. During his two weeks at the summer program, he learned about the ongoing inventions in the field of Biomimicry and Engineering and even made several Hardware and Software Games.
