Vandana-2016, the Teachers' Day Programme of Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj was organised with incredible gusto and zeal by the students of various classes of Junior and Senior School. The event, celebrated in the Tennis Court of the school, began at 8 AM, with the address of the Head Girl and Head Boy. They welcomed the gathering, delivered a poignant discourse on the essence and spirit of Teachers' Day that left one and all in the audience, eagerly longing for the day ahead.
To mark the auspicious day, the lamp was lit by the venerated Principal, Vice Principal, Headmistress, Headmaster and the Academic Coordinator of the school. The Principal, Ms Bindu Sehgal, talked to the children and reminded them of the tireless labour and love all their teachers put in to bring them up as knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. She also honoured four teachers, namely Ms Veena Negi, Ms Poonam Bhasin, Ms Meenakshi Malhotra and Ms Asha Malkotia, for their immense contributions to the school. The Principal also commended the efforts of every teacher for the painstaking effort they selflessly put in every day.
The Student Council commenced the many spectacles planned for the day and showcased some stellar dance performances by students of the Junior, Middle and Senior School classes. The function began with a scintillating classical Guru Vandana, followed by some peppy Bollywood and Hollywood numbers. The performances left the audience spellbound. The Dramatics Society enacted the journey of a student from the first day of school to the last. The play also highlighted the warm and heart-warming relationship shared between a teacher and a student.
The assembly ended with the final Vote of Thanks. All the teachers applauded the immense effort of the students for making such a glorious event possible. The gathering rose for the National Anthem, before leaving for their classes, where a day of fun and frolic still awaited them.
